LINKY PARTY GIVEAWAY!

I am linking up with Maria Dismondy - one of my favorite new children's authors for Make a Difference Monday. Maria's books have wonderful lessons to be learned. This month's character word for Make a Difference Monday is RESPECT. How do you teach respect to your students? In my class I read a lot of books about respecting each other's differences. The first book I usually start out with is Have You Filled a Bucket Today? It teaches children that everyone including pets have invisible buckets. Throughout the day kind words and actions can fill your bucket and hurtful words can dip into your bucket. At the beginning of this year we also made this chart from The First Grade Parade.

I think it's really important for students to see the beauty in diversity. Here are some of my favorite books to teach RESPECT. I'm also having a All-Time Favorite Read-Alouds linky party if you'd like to link up. If you link up to both linky parties you may win fabulous prizes donated by Maria and myself. Maria has graciously donated her book Pink Tiara Cookies for Three along with a cute cookie cutter set. Remember you must link up to both linky parties to be entered into the contest!
