Here are my pins this week.

Did you see my buckets/table caddies from the last Monday Made It?
I am IN LOVE!
They look totally new even though they are not. I am so pleased with my ribbon and label from Quite a Pear.  If you have your own caddies then it's so simple to add her precious labels.

Today you are in LUCK. Sweet Jessica at Quite a Pear and Dandelions and Dragonflies has teamed up with me to offer an AMAZING giveaway. Jessica is giving away 5 custom labels with ribbon so you can make your own personalized caddies. All you need is to find you some caddies. Target is usually a great place to start looking.  You can use plastic or metal buckets. Jessica will customize your labels and ribbon to match your room. HOW FUN??? I have pinned many things in the past from her awesome room. I'm sure you've seen it too. If not I highly suggest looking at this post. I just love all of her polka dots.

Transportation Display

I love making lists so I couldn't wait to join this fabulous linky party hosted by Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies. It's a To Do list linky party of all the things I need to accomplish before the first day of school. Well, my list gets longer by the minute. Here is what I have so far:

  1. Make labels for student BEE binders, name tags, and journals.
  2. Make birthday photo poster (inspired by Erica Bohrer)- IN PROCESS- MONDAY MADE IT
  3. label cubbies and mailboxes with BEE labels
  4. create class checklist and make multiple copies (best tip ever)
  5. organize my closet and put away new supplies I bought over the summer
  6. make transportation display   DONE! (inspired by Laura at Tattling to the Teacher)
  7. Redesign my class t-shirt – order multiple colors
  8. Make brain break bucket
  9. Put together bee binders and be sure to make 3 extra bee binders for any new students who might show up later on in the year.
  10. Plan for the first few weeks.

Bulletin Board 101

I just got back from school redoing my boards for the new year. Oh how things have changed throughout the years. My first couple of years I had border to match every season and thematic unit. I would spend hours switching the fabric every few weeks. Not only was this exhausting for me but it really was too busy for my students.  My room was filled with color. Some could describe it as skittles exploding in my room. Now I have learned a few things.

Tip #1 Cohesive Backgrounds-The best tip is to keep the boards cohesive throughout the room. I like using fabric so I stick with black and white. I sometimes pick a different pattern but the colors are all the same. Wrapping paper is also very helpful along with twin bed sheets.

Tip #2- Cohesive Borders- Another thing I love is keeping the borders cohesive as well. I no longer need storage for my borders because I only pick a few patterns.  To make my boards fun, I layer the borders. I think it frames the boards much better than a single border.

Tip #3-Student Space-The last tip is to keep your boards simple. I provide each student with a space on my board and make sure it’s easy and quick to change out their work. I have used paperclips, clothespins and tacks. The paper clips allow me to easily slip their work under the clip. The tacks allow for multiple sheets over the course of the semester and a clothesline with clothespins allows for easy access.

Paperclips are an easy option for switching out student work
Clothespins are also very easy!
Tacks allow for multiple sheets over the course of the semester
