Just left my good friend's baby shower and she's still deciding on a baby girl name. I'm also trying to help my sister come up with a unusual name. Anyone have any cute girl names they wouldn't mind sharing?

ReplyDeleteI have a Miranda which isn't really unusual, but I love the name! I also like Maileigh (Maylee) which is a name I have never heard, but came up with once. I like combining short names and coming up with a new one. I also love Marina for a girl. Coming up with a different name is tough.....I named both of my kiddos Miranda and Dakota before those names ever got popular and they still really aren't. I wish her the best of luck deciding on a name...:)

If I had a baby girl (which I didn't - 4 boys for this girl), I would have loved to have picked Ailis. It is pronounced Long A-lish. I think it is such a pretty name.
ReplyDeleteI always love girls with boy names(probably because I grew up with a boy's name) My favorites are Ryeann (Ryan) and Rylan. Cassidy and Shelby are cute too. Another unusual name is my name Michaelyn (Michael-lynn). Hope this helps!!!

True story! There was a kid at our school named Shithead (pronounced shu-theed). We also had brother/sister named Handsome and Beautiful. Some of these names parents come up with should be illegal! I chose pretty basic names for my girls- Emily Kate and Amy Elizabeth. Good luck to your sister!

DeleteI love names that are unusual, but aren't so bizarre that nobody knows how to pronoun the name! It's hard to choose without knowing the last name (You know, there's always that play of syllables with first, middle, & last names) I also love when you can use a family name, especially a mother's surname. My niece has a very unusual name. Phair Elizabeth. Both of her parents have brown hair and brown eyes. When my Mother saw the petite little blond haired, blue eyed baby, she exclaimed, "She's so fair!" Hence Phair Elizabeth. It's so unique and really fits her personality. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI like Evelyn - old fashioned but pretty. We have a student named Evelyn and everyone calls her Evie (with a short e beginning).
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who named her daughter Elin (her husband is very Swedish), and they call her Ellie (again short e).

Of course I have to say my favorite names are my daughters' names, Ellyse Opal(like Elise but we liked Elly too so we had the option for both) and Avarie Lynn(like the boys name Avery but girled up, we call her Ava for short). Also I have a new niece named Brynn Elizabeth. In my classroom we had a girl named Selene(like sell-en-ay) that was a unique name. I also love Isabella and if we had another daughter that is what I would name her! It was fun to see all the responses, way better than a baby book!
